Friends of Fort Fisher is a non-profit formed to support Fort Fisher State Historic Site. We partner with Fort Fisher State Historic Site and the Department of Natural and Cultural to preserve this historic battlefield and training ground, interpret the Fort Fisher stories and promote a greater understanding of and appreciation for the significance of Fort Fisher’s role in our history.

Preserve

It is simple, the history that encompasses Fort Fisher State Historic Site is important for all Americans. Our organization works hard to provide visitors to the site as much information as possible to the history and the memories that were created here.

Enhance

We want Fort Fisher to evolve like other museums so that they can continue to educate visitors who come to the site. We provide funds needed to fix, repair or replace things used by the site to help it continue operation.

Interpret

The history of Fort Fisher is important and vital to our organization. We work hard everyday to educate people on the sites history and help to expand available resources to state staff. We help to shed light on parts of Fort Fishers history not yet discovered or explored.

The Capital Campaign

The Friends of Fort Fisher have worked years to bring what was once a dream into reality. As the State plans for a new museum, our non-profit plans for the reconstruction of the mounds and tunnels that would have been located right through the back door of the museum. These mounds and tunnels will include new gun emplacements and a first hand experience for both the young and old to see a snippet of the past. Please consider donating to our campaign and help us make that dream a reality.
